Uneven floor under a garage door
A level difference can leave a gap under the seal or load the door unevenly. Measure the floor at several points and record the fall.
Use this guide for preparation. The order size must come from the selected product documentation and a competent survey.
Recommended measurement sequence
Record the finished opening width at the top, middle and bottom.
Write the value in millimetres and note any unfinished layer or obstruction.
Record height at the left, centre and right from the final floor datum.
Write the value in millimetres and note any unfinished layer or obstruction.
Measure headroom to the lowest obstruction, both siderooms and clear backroom.
Write the value in millimetres and note any unfinished layer or obstruction.
Compare the measurements with the exact installation drawing before ordering.
Write the value in millimetres and note any unfinished layer or obstruction.
Why one universal number is unsafe
Manufacturer examples show that headroom, sideroom, garage depth and drive-through losses differ between track and opener variants. That is why BramaTo keeps planning requirements editable.
| Dimension | Measure to | Common mistake |
|---|---|---|
| Opening | Final fixing surfaces | Using one centre reading |
| Headroom | Lowest obstruction | Measuring to the ceiling only |
| Backroom | First track obstruction | Ignoring the opener rail |
Example
A 5,022 mm rough opening finished with 50 mm on each side and 70 mm of floor build-up does not remain a 5,022 mm opening. Calculate the finished size first, then assess the installation space.
